Illustrations: Stella Jones
Stella Jones children’s musical NAIMA LEA is a colouful oriental music piece that tells the story of an ancient egyptian queen who is eager to protect her land, upper Egypt, against the bad doings of her adversary, the pharaoh of lower Egypt. He tries to take over the empire of the compassionate and popular queen and forges forces together with the faceless magician Mahmut who has very dark plans. But the queen has a powerful secret. Will the Pharaoh succeed in conquering Naima’s land?
Stella Jones studied ancient mythology and wrote this musical after coming back from an elonged travel to Egypt where she visited all the original birth places of nowadays traditions bedded into believe systems and religions. She was invited to speak to initiated people who carried the ancient knowledge from thousands of generations and explained to her how the ancient cultures were aware of many truths that they tried to encode for later generations. Like other ancient populations they left important keys in their drawings and their sometimes multi layered messages in their buildings and hidden temples.
Stella Jones was deeply touched by the tellings of the Bedouins who walked with her through the deserts of Dahab, the oral traditions of the coptic christians from the Saint Catherine`s Monastery and the many various findings of scholars.
Stella Jones collected experiences and impressions are incorporated into her children’s music NAIMA LEA which is a mix of Western traditional music styles with oriental rhythms.
